STEEL PAN JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER SOLD OUT

NEW YORK – This Saturday’s (June 16) Steelpan Jazz concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, featuring calypso revolutionary David Rudder, is officially sold out.

Steelpan and jazz enthusiasts from across the tri-state area and beyond have put this show in the history books by snatching up the tickets two weeks in advance.

Ralph Ramsey of Abstract Entertainment Inc., announcing this record breaking feat, said, “I would personally like to thank everyone for making our Steel Pan Jazz one of the most successful productions at Jazz at Lincoln Center.”

In an effort to accommodate the numerous fans still calling for tickets, Ramsey has organized a complimentary pre-show reception and “meet-and-greet” with the artists. “We invite everyone to come to this free reception as we all get together to celebrate both Caribbean American Heritage Month and Father’s Day weekend,” he said.

The pre-Father’s Day concert takes place on Saturday, June 16 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Allen Room, starting at 8 p.m. The one hour pre-show reception will begin at 6 p.m.

Since its inception three years ago, the Jazz at Lincoln Center concert has appealed to steelpan and jazz lovers who have supported each show with growing enthusiasm. This year’s event has created special excitement with a line-up of musical giants, including David Rudder and a Caribbean All-Star band made up of Robert Greenidge, Arturo Tappin, Ralph McDonald, Nicholas Brancker, among others, including Canadian-Guyanese songstress RHEA, who will pay tribute to the late Bob Marley during the show with a stirring rendition of “Redemption Song”.

The 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Neville Jules, the legendary leader of Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra.

The concert is sponsored by Air Jamaica, Barbados Tourism Authority, Hawks International, Money Gram, New York Carib News, Ocean View Development Corp, Tropical Paradise Caters, WACK Radio 90.1 FM and WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM.
