St. Lucia’s Prime Minister community development projects continue

CASTRIES, St. Lucia – Organizations within the Castries North constituency continue to benefit from Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King’s Community Development Projects initiative.

The initiative is aided by the Republic of China on Taiwan, and has to date included various projects including roadways and educational infrastructure.

Recently, support was extended to the National Council of and for Older Persons via the La Clery Club 60 and the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS).

The La Clery Club 60 has identified the premises of the old La Clery Police Station as a site for an Adult Daycare Centre.

“You indicated to me that the intention of the previous administration was to assist you in constructing the Daycare Centre, which you have plans for already. And I thought it was a worthwhile project, one that deserved the support of government, and as a result I approached the Ambassador and made it part of the Castries North Constituency Community Development Projects,” said Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for Castries North, Honourable Stephenson King.

The CCSS required aid to furnish equipment for their Electronic Document Preparation Management (EDPM) lab to be used by students pursuing the subject at the CXC level.

“Saint Lucia is very proud of the work that the school has done. We are very proud of the leadership of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, and so we are also very proud of those who went through the walls of the school, and who are now making a positive contribution to development here in Saint Lucia. When the request was made to me by the principal, I thought it was a worthwhile venture that we should respond to positively,” said the prime minister.

Taiwanese Ambassador to Saint Lucia, His Excellency Tom Chou stressed the importance of cultivating human resources coupled with the necessity to employ high technology in the continuous development of small countries like Saint Lucia and Taiwan. As a result, he said his government is always supportive of initiatives of that nature.
