Sports Employment Inc. (SEI) scheduled to host a virtual job fair

FT. LAUDERDALE – The competitive job market has forced organizations to adapt to diminished budgets for recruiting, fewer positions and more responsibilities on new hires.

Fewer employers are taking the time or spending the money to participate in job fairs, and one company found a solution. South Florida-based Sports Employment Inc. who will be hosting the first completely virtual Sports Employment Fair.

The Sports Employment Fair is open to all job seekers searching for full-time and part-time employment, as well as students looking for internships and volunteer experience.

The Sports Employment Fair is online and offered over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, March 18-19, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST, with a preview day on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 giving those who are currently working plenty of time to interact with employers.

Some of the employers committed to participating in the Virtual Sports Employment Fair include: ASA Entertainment, ESPN X Games, FC Dallas, Federartion of Futsal USA, Gameday Management Group, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium, Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League Alumni Association, National Football League Players Association, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orange Bowl Committee, Orlando Magic, Pittsburgh Pirates and many more.

Sports Administration/Management is one of the fastest-growing degree programs in the country according to the North American Society of Sports Management. Sports Employment Inc. saw a need to provide employers with a way to reach as many of these graduates, as well as others interested in the field with a connection to employers. This is not just a job posting board, this provides both groups with ways to connect and talk about what each has to offer.

The virtual nature of the Sports Employment Fair is both eco-friendly and cost effective. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online through www.sportsemploymentinc.com.

The job seekers pay for a ticket, but save the cost of gas, travel, dry-cleaning a suit, printing resumes and more. The employers save as well, having only to spend the time setting up their booth.
