South Florida Youth Summit Creates a Space for Today’s Youth To Become Community Builders and Leaders

MIAMI – A collective group of South Florida organizations have come together to host the 2012 South Florida Youth Summit on March 22-24 for students in grades 6-12. This high impact and free motivational youth conference will provide a platform to help foster youth empowerment in the South Florida community.

Keynote speakers include; renowned Dr. Cornel West, philosopher and Professor at Princeton University and Jeff Johnson, award winning journalist, social activist and political commentator on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.

The South Florida Youth Summit provides the young people of South Florida inspiration and tools to set their path on becoming bright academic and community stars.

“Our inaugural summit creates a platform for our young people to foster personal and professional development, develop social consciousness and create goals and critical leadership skills to become ambassadors of our future,” states the South Florida Youth Summit co-chairperson, Adrian Freeman.

The summit will take place over three days with events spanning the tri-county area. The schedule includes:

– Thursday, March 22, Dr. Cornel West featured at the “Distinguished Lecture Series” at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Boca Raton Campus;

– Friday, March 23, Political Activist Jeff Johnson will lead the Youth Symposium at Miami Carol City High School in Miami Gardens;

– Saturday, March 24, The Youth Summit will be held at FAU in Davie.
