South Florida Workforce region creates more new jobs

MIAMI – In what could be considered relatively good news, the unemployment rate in the South Florida Workforce Region (Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties) was 3.7 percent in November 2007, up 0.2 percentage points from the same time last year, but lower than the state’s rate. Out of a labor force of 1,255,750, there were 46,419 unemployed residents.

“We need to do more, said Rick Beasley, Executive Director of the South Florida Workforce Investment Board. “Although we have developed an operating framework throughout our 11 Career Centers that deliver valued-added employment and training services to the residents of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, more collaborative relationships with our economic development partners will definitely help us get there”
