Royal University, Alberta Canada and graduate studies in nursing from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Paulet Biedermann’s highly-anticipated book, “Your Best You” will be available in book stores in October 2011. The following is an excerpt:

Sabotaging self talk is one of the biggest indicators of low self image and self-esteem. Hearing phrases such as ‘I am not good enough’, ‘I am not worthy’, ‘I don’t deserve’ constantly does not help either. The question is: Did you talk yourself into low self-esteem or the negative self take is a direct result of your already low and embattled self-esteem. It is difficult to say, and I am sure it’s debatable. One way to look at it is this; all your life you hear ‘you can’t’, ‘you shouldn’t’, ‘you are not worthy or capable’, etc. You internalize these untruths and they become a part of the false self image you have of yourself. The saddest thing is, you start communicating to yourself in this negative way. The result is a sad, unfulfilled and miserable existence.

It is no secret that some people ascend to greatness despite the odds stacked against them; while others fail miserably or settle for a mundane existence despite the opportunities and resources available to them. Do you ever wonder why this is? Or do you just think that’s the way life is; some of us are just smarter than others; plain and simple. Well, it is no coincidence that some people excel while others lag. What a lot of people don’t realize is that we have choices and these choices create and sometimes re-route our destiny. But are you willing to come out of your comfort zone, pick up your dream, brush it off and make it reality? I have no doubt that that is what you would love to do. If you are like many people, you hesitate because of self doubt, negative thinking pattern, anxiety and challenged self esteem.
