KINGSTON, Jamaica – Christopher Ellis, the youngest son of the late legendary Jamaican vocalist and rocksteady pioneer Alton Ellis, steps on the scene as one of reggae’s most promising singers of this generation. Ellis represents the soul revival with a British/Jamaican sensibility that blends R&B, ska and rocksteady. He recently unleashed his latest video for “Roller Coaster,” which premiered with VICE Noisey.

Noisey raves that “Christopher Ellis takes classic rocksteady/first wave reggae and gives it a new look with “Roller Coaster,” a track that seems like it would fit squarely in the Daptone roster. This song has royalty written all over it…”

“Roller Coaster” is off his latest EP Better Than Love, released last fall. Produced by Damian Marley and recorded with live studio musicians, this 5-song love story and refreshing modern take on classic reggae, R&B and rocksteady was penned by Ellis himself.  His flawless soulful vocals effortlessly ride over “Roller Coaster,” the horn-drenched love ballad “You Babe,” the breathtaking anthem “Spoiling Me,” the one-drop rocksteady rhythms on “Left Unsaid” and the EP’s title track “Better Than Love.”
