Reggae’s Sizzla returns with his latest “Teaching Ghetto Youth-ology” on April 21, 2009 with Greensleeves Records

MIRAMAR – Reggae’s beloved musical genius, Sizzla Kalonji, delves deeper into his cultural and spiritual ideals with the highly anticipated opus Ghetto Youth-ology, set to be released on April, 21, 2009 with Greensleeves Records.

This cohesive work of art serves up an array of blissful culture songs entirely produced and backed by The Firehouse Crew, Sizzla’s live tour band who has provided some of the his biggest songs to date. Sizzla’s riveting, pitch-shifting timbre matched with the famous Jamaican band’s spellbinding rhythms creates a rare harmonious fusion throughout the album’s entirety and rivals with some of his best work up till now.

This 15 track LP brings the prolific singjay back to his essence – chanting truths & rights over Firehouse Crew’s solid live riddims. Whether he is addressing flawed socioeconomic issues on the first single “Ghetto Youths Dem A Suffer” or uplifting youths during their most formative years on inspirational ballads like “Gwaan Bear”, “Hey Youths” and “Future Is Yours”, Sizzla covers the 101 and 102 on Ghetto Youth-ology. He carries in a similar vein and adds to the ever expanding repertoire of reggae tributes for U.S Presidential elect Barack Obama on “Black Man In The White House”, and then he pours out his heart on lover tunes like “I’m Loving You” and “What I’m I To Do” ft. Conradine “Connie” Campbell.

Almost 15 years deep and with more than 40 albums under his belt, Sizzla’s energetic singjay-style and spiritual lyrics of Rastafari exude the utmost fervor and vivacity so that his every word is filled with emotion. Born Miguel Collins in August Town, a suburb of Kingston, Jamaica, Sizzla has cemented his standing as one of this generation’s greatest reggae legends with breakthrough albums like Black Woman & Child in 1997 (VP), the classic Da Real Thing (VP) in 2002, Rise To The Occasion in 2003 by dancehall producer Don Corleon (Greensleeves) and more recently The Overstanding (Damon Dash’s Rocafella Records).
