Reggae Legends, Heptones Choose Toronto for Reunion!

TORONTO, Canada – The Heptones, Reggae’s legendary group, in association with Kingston Class Reunion Corp, has chosen Toronto to host their one time historic reunion. On January 15th, 2011, the Jamaica Canadian Centre (995 Arrow Road) will rock with classic songs such as “Fatty Fatty,” Sea of Love” and “Party Time” as fans young and mature toast one of Reggae’s longest running groups!

Beginning their recording career in Kingston in 1965, the group released hit singles consistently with Studio One, and with Island Records. Some of their hits include “Pretty Looks Isn’t All,” “Ting A Ling” and “I’ve Got The Handle.” They also recorded several instrumental sessions which were released on the Studio One imprint as the Soul Vendors and Sound Dimension. Leroy Sibbles, founder of the Heptones, played bass on Alton Ellis’s “I’m Still in Love” and the Abyssinians classic “Satta Massagana.”

“We’re really looking forward to performing for the Toronto audience in the New Year,” said Leroy from his home in Jamaica. “I lived in Toronto, and am very aware of the city’s love and appreciation for good music, and for the Heptones. This is the best way to start the New Year!”

In addition to the Heptones, local artists such as Uncle Jonny, who has recorded with Luciano, Sizzla and Gyptian recently, as well as Ammoye, Nadeera, Tony Anthony, Mr. Cool and Jimmy Reid will perform live, and additional music will be supplied by DJ Wiz International, Massey Sound and Barry Culture. The show will be hosted by Delroy ‘Speedy’ Sterling from 105.5 CHRY FM and Natasha Von Castle, Canada’s Music Queen from 88.1 CKLN FM.
