Prominent Jamaican Businessman Christopher Zacca Appointed Special Adviser to the Prime Minister
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding of Jamaica has announced the appointment of businessman and former Deputy Chairman of the ATL Group of companies, Christopher Zacca as Special Adviser.
His appointment became effective October 1, 2009. In his new position, Mr. Zacca will provide high level advice and support to the Prime Minister on the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and key initiatives designed to support the achievement of national socio-economic objectives.
Mr. Zacca will also provide analytical support and co-ordination of major projects, proposals and development strategies working in collaboration with the relevant government agencies.
He will also be responsible for providing strategic co-ordination and management of the Prime Minister’s intervention and consultation with the private sector and civil society stakeholders, especially in matters concerning the development of public/private sector partnerships.
Mr. Zacca’s appointment as Special Adviser, follows two years of voluntary work for the Planning and Development Division in the Office of the Prime Minister. During that time, he served as a member of the monitoring board of the National Planning Summit. In that position, he was instrumental in building meaningful social partnerships between enterprise and government, keeping Jamaica on a track towards development despite the current global downturn.
Mr. Zacca brings an extraordinarily unique experience to the position of Special Adviser having served as an executive in the media, and at manufacturing and service companies in Jamaica. These include Desnoes and Geddes, Appliance Traders, Air Jamaica and the Jamaica Observer. He is also the immediate Past President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ).
