PORT ROYAL, Jamaica – Once again, Jamaica and the world have another great reason to celebrate in the month of August, with the annual Port Royal Music Festival. The planning and organizing for its second staging is well underway and this year’s event promises to exceed all expectations.
The 2007 line-up of activities are scheduled to take place from August 24-26. Kicking off the festivities with the Celebrity Party, followed by the Main Show and the new Jazz on the Harbor. It is clear that this year’s event will capture “all the right elements of music, bringing a diverse line-up of activities” as Christopher Blythe explains Director of Paradise Communications. “As we look to further develop and establish a music festival in Kingston, Jamaica we plan to revive Port Royal and bring forth its once ritzy days, which will be envied by many, not only in Jamaica but the entire region as a festival of class and quality” he added. This years line-up will include genres from adult contemporary, pop, r&b, reggae and jazz just to name a few.
The new Sunday event, Jazz on the Harbour, is a revamped concept to replace the previous Brunch on the Bay. Sunday’s affair will be of a much bigger magnitude, both in terms of size and scope and will feature a host of world renowned international jazz musicians.
The Port Royal Music Festival has successfully incorporated the essential elements of entertainment, location, concept, vibe, food, and décor, to create one dynamic package.
The 2006 inaugural staging of the Port Royal Music Festival saw acts like Boyz II Men and Atlantic Starr gracing the stage and their performances were highly received by the crowd. In anticipation of this year’s line-up we can only expect the best as the Port Royal Music Festival drops their anchor as the premier music festival in Kingston, Jamaica. Certainly, if it’s first staging generated such overwhelming responses, this year’s event will be nothing short of explosive.
