Obamacare: Americans for Prosperity Florida Announces 1.2 Million TV Ad

BOCA RATON – Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest advocate for economic freedom with over 100,000 members in the Sunshine State, today announced a significant new TV ad in Florida, totaling over $1.2 million.

This ad, titled “Not a Tax,” is in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on President Obama’s health care law and will air in the following markets across the state: Miami, Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, Ft. Myers, Pensacola-Mobile, Tallahassee, Panama City and Gainesville.

“In 2009, President Obama denied the individual mandate was a tax. But in fact, the Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the mandate is a tax and validated government’s extensive power to tax citizens for not buying something they do not want,” said Slade O’Brien, AFP-Florida State Director. “The American people know that the federal government shouldn’t be allowed to force us to buy health care that we may not want or may not be right for us.”

“On behalf of AFP-FL’s more than 100,000 members, I implore Governor Scott to protect the interest of Floridians by refusing to implement the health insurance exchanges called for in the PPACA.

These exchanges will give the federal government additional control over Floridian’s health care options, resulting in a limited market and increased costs. There is no doubt our health care system needs to be reformed. But putting Washington in control of personal health care decisions is not the way to do it. And putting the country more in debt is not the way to do it.”
