Obama Cabinet Member Visits Miami Entrepreneurs and Business Owners
SBA Administrator to Speak at Local Business Accelerator and Visit Local Small Business
MIAMI – Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and member of President Obama’s Cabinet, will be in Miami on Sunday, May 3, to engage in cooperative efforts to boost outreach on entrepreneurship training and counseling and small business development on the eve of National Small Business Week.
Administrator Contreras-Sweet will start the day addressing entrepreneurs participating in the CNBC eMerge Millennial Bootcamp Luncheon at Miami’s Venture Hive business accelerator. Last year, Venture Hive was one of 50 winners of a $50,000 prize in SBA’s first Growth Accelerator Fund competition. Afterwards, she will visit Chiffino Shoes, a Miami, family-owned shoe store that utilized SBA resources to start and grow to four south Florida locations.
Later, she will visit Florida International University and participate in a small business round table discussion with small business owners and FIU leadership. FIU hosts a Small Business Development Center, a part of SBA’s network of resource partners.
