MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), His Excellency Ambassador Albert Ramdin, has expressed confidence in the Jamaican Government’s efforts at maintaining national security.
Bringing greetings at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Biennial Caribbean Environmental Forum and Exhibition (CEF-5), being held at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa, in Montego Bay, on Monday June 21, the Ambassador took time out from the subject at hand to express his opinion on the Government’s handling of national security issues.

“Allow me to say to the Hon Bruce Golding, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and through him to the people of Jamaica and the Government, that the Organization of American States is in full support of his efforts to maintain and enhance peace and stability in Jamaica,” he stated.
He said that his organization is fully aware of recent challenges faced by the Jamaican government, but strongly believes and stands ready to offer its full support, adding that this was outlined in a recent press release issued by his organization.
He added that in a democracy, the rule of law, human rights and the security of fundamental objectives to be achieved is critically important, in terms of facilitating social and economic development.
“So Mr. Prime Minister the OAS is with you”, he stated.
