NEW YORK – The contribution of the overseas medical community to Jamaica will be the main topic for discussion at the Jamaica Diaspora Health Sector (Northeast United States) meeting scheduled for February 22 at the Jamaican Consulate in New York.
The meeting, the first of two for the year, will engage stakeholders in discussion on how the overseas community can meet the health needs of Jamaicans and look at agenda items for the June 22 Diaspora Conference in New York City.
The role of the Jamaica Overseas Health Office, a unit at the Consulate General, which acts as a clearing house for the required paperwork for medical missions to Jamaica, will also be examined.
“Our expectation is that this year’s program will once again showcase the outstanding clinical, educational and outreach activity of our sector”, said Dr. Roy Streete, member of the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board.
The Partnership for Healthy Caribbean Families, Inc., a newly established organization dedicated to the promotion of best practices in healthcare for the underserved Caribbean American community, will be among the organizations presenting at the meeting.
