North Shore Medical Center welcomes Caribbean-American Governing Board Member

MIAMI – North Shore Medical Center CEO Manny Linares announced that Herta Holly, former Mayor of Miami Shores, and Caribbean-American, Ronald Brise, Florida State Representative from District 108, have joined the hospital’s Governing Board and will serve three year terms.

“We are excited to welcome these influential community members to our Governing Board,” Linares said. “Their knowledge of the services we offer and influence in the community make them a valuable asset to guide our facility in its efforts to continue serving the medical needs of Miami residents.”

The Governing Board recommends and implements hospital policy, and works to promote patient safety and performance improvement.

Additionally, the board members strive to ensure quality patient care and provide planning and organizational management for North Shore Medical Center.


Herta Holly

Herta is a long time resident and former Mayor of Miami Shores, Herta has served numerous years on the Miami Shores Village Council where she has fought for a safer and fiscally sound village. She is a past president of the Greater Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce, Citizen of the Year, helped formulate the Miami Shores downtown revitalization plan, established the TEAP Award (financial support for classroom teachers), and sponsored the Police Recognition Program: Police officer of the Quarter.

Holly also served as a board member for the North Dade Medical Foundation which was instrumental in establishing the Doctors Charter School of Miami Shores. She is the past president of the Rotary Club of Miami Shores and serves as the current president-elect. Holly works as a Grants Manager for the Cushman School Advancement Department. She is a graduate of the University of Miami where she received her Juris Doctorate.


Ronald Brise

Ronald Brise currently serves as a Florida State Representative from District 108, Brise has resided in Miami-Dade County for the past 24 years. He attended High School at Miami union Academy where he was a part of the Student Government, Co-Captain of the Basketball Team, Class Officer and Officer in the Honor Society. He was nominated to Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students and was selected to represent the State of Florida at the congressional Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C.

Brise was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006, succeeding Honorable Philip J. Brutus as Representative from the 108th District, which encompasses the communities of North Miami, Miami Shores, Pinewood, Biscayne Gardens, El Portal, Biscayne park, and a portion of Miami.

Brise graduated from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, with degrees in Biology and Biology Education. He earned two MBA’s, one in Marketing and the other in management at American Intercontinental University. Representative Brise serves as the Chief Operating officer for IPIP Corporation, a telecommunications carrier based in Miami, with offices and installations in Haiti, Honduras, Argentina and Venezuela.
