Nigerian Reggae Superstar Victor Essiet and The Mandators releases new CD, ONE LOVE ONE WORLD

LOS ANGELES, CA – Nigerian Reggae superstar, Victor Essiet, released his long awaited new studio CD ONE LOVE ONE WORLD on July 4th.

It boasts the talents of Jamaican Grammy-winning duo Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, whose creative fusion is respected and sought after by artists of every musical genre.

The albums 18 tracks include two infectious Marley covers, “Dem Belly Full” and “Mi Friends (Duppy Conqueror),” in riveting, respectful and revelatory new versions.

“You have to be really good to cover Marley tracks,” said reggae historian Roger Steffens, upon hearing the songs, “and Victor really nails them beautifully.” “Conscious Party’s” bouncy, catchy beat will definitely keep the party rockin’, while “Care” reflects the spirituality of the artist. “Belly Full” and other tracks, including late-60s Jamaican classic “Come Back Darling” and “Mi Friends (Duppy Conqueror),” as well as other great songs on this 18 track album, round out this winning production of diverse sounds.

A music video for “Conscious Party,” the album’s first single has been filmed by director, Salzy, with the prestigious production company, The Mine, enjoying rotation on HYPE TV and RETV in Jamaica and outlets in North America. Two other videos for the upcoming singles “Stand Up” and “Inflation” were shot in June with acclaimed director, Nordia Rose, in Jamaica.

Always focused on perfection and substance rather than hype, Victor knows for certain that “music is a vehicle for positive messages.”

Already an established star in his African homeland, with an award-winning platinum album and stadium size sell-out concerts, the award-winning Essiet sought asylum from the dire political turmoil in his home country, and established an impressive presence in America and Europe in the late ’90s.

The international kick-off concert for the ONE LOVE ONE WORLD album was recently in Los Angeles at the world-famous ROXY THEATRE in West Hollywood, CA. The same stage where Reggae icons, Bob Marley and The Wailers and Peter Tosh made musical history. Victor Essiet and The Mandators were joined on stage by album producers and legendary Jamaican drum and bass duo – Sly & Robbie.

Victor and his band will be touring the US and Canada this summer and has been added to the prestigious line-up of Reggae Sunsplash in Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Friday, August 4th.

A highly anticipated homecoming tour in Nigeria and a number of African countries were Victor will play to stadium size crowds wrapping up 2006 for the band in November and December.
