Newly appointed WHA/Caribbean Affairs Director, Juan Alsace, visits Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Members of the local Government of Jamaica, the Opposition and various NGOs attended a cocktail reception at the home of U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica, Pamela Bridgewater on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 to welcome Director of the Office of Caribbean Affairs in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the Department of State, Mr. Juan Alsace.

Director Alsace is a career Foreign Service Officer who has previously served overseas as the Deputy Principal Officer in Istanbul, as well as political officer in Karachi, Santo Domingo, and Quito. In his capacity, Director Alsace works intimately with member states in the Western hemisphere through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) Commission in fighting crime, drug trafficking and juvenile and legislative reform.

Specially invited guests included Paula Llewellyn, Director of Public Prosecution, Terrence Williams, Independent Commissioner of Investigations (INDECOM), Arnaldo Brown, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade, Dundeen Ferguson, Executive Director of Woman’s Inc, and Joyce Hewitt, Director of Woman’s Inc.
