New Reggae & Soca Albums From VP Records Due Out In May 2010

MIRAMAR – VP Records is set to release several new albums in May 2010.

Gyptian

Gyptian’s single Hold You, continues to make noise on the airwaves. The track has spurred remixes from top artists like Vybz Kartel, Nicki Minaj and a host of others. Featured on the trend-setting album Ragga Ragga Ragga 2010 that was released on March 23; the Ragga Ragga Ragga series is known for breaking the latest tracks and featuring the hottest artists in Dancehall music.

Reggae Disco Mix Showcase Volume 4

On May 4th VP records releases Reggae Disco Mix Showcase Volume 4. This album features 11 re-mastered Joe Gibbs & Errol Thompson produced 12” singles from the golden age of Reggae (1977-82). Collected and compiled together for the very first time! Featuring some of the greatest singers, deejays and musicians in Jamaica’s rich musical history, including Dennis Brown, George Nooks, Junior Byles, Trinity and more.

These original, full length vocal / deejay excursions that rocked dancehalls in Jamaica and around the world available on CD for the first time ever!

Reggae Disco Mix Showcase Volume 5

VP Records gives Reggae connoisseurs a double shot on May 4th with the release of Reggae Disco Mix Showcase Volume 5. This collection of hits features 11 re-mastered Joe Gibbs & Errol Thompson produced 12” singles from the golden age of Reggae (1977-82). Featuring some of the greatest singers, deejays and musicians that pioneered Reggae music into the well know Genre we know today; Junior Murvin, Sammy Dread, Ruddy Thomas, Junior Vibes and many more.

Diwali Gold Edition

On May 25th Greensleeves Records releases Diwali Gold Edition. Diwali is a festival of lights and shines with dancehall’s brightest stars. Originally released in 2002 as Greensleeves Rhythm album #27: Diwali, produced by Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden, the riddim fueled some of dancehall’s biggest hits.

The Diwali riddim is the basis for international hits by Sean Paul, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Lumidee and Wayne Wonder together for the first time in this package. The beat; characterized by syncopated clapping, was named for its Bollywood, dance music influence. The rhythm has been featured in TV commercials via Sean Paul’s “Get Busy”. After a long hiatus, Greensleeves is proud to re-introduce the ‘best of’ the Diwali riddim on Diwali Gold Edition.
