Joseph Quote

Joseph Quote is an extraordinarily gifted and passionate Atlanta-based musician who hails from under the clock in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew, Jamaica. He is also a deeply spiritual and philanthropic member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel faith and his ultimate dream is to make a huge success of his music to enable him to motivate, inspire and help the less fortunate. His name Joseph Quote has biblical origins from the book of Genesis where Joseph is hated and envied by his brothers for his dreams and his coat of many colors.

Joseph Quote’s musical journey began in infancy as he was born to a musical family where his grandmother was a church vocalist. Her singing was not limited to church- she would often belt out melodic notes while doing house chores, and young Joseph Quote, aka Andrew Bell would absorb every note, bar and melody, wanting to imitate the magic of his grandmother’s voice. That opportunity came later when he was old enough to attend church. A natural, powerful and distinctive voice emerged from Joseph Quote, and later, while attending North Street Primary and Wolmer’s Boys’ schools, he was always called upon to sing, much to the delight of his fellow students.

Over the years, Joseph Quote has grown and matured musically and otherwise, and it is with much pride that this ex-marine presents his debut album, GIVE JAH ALL THE PRAISE to the rest of the world. He refers to the collection of the 13 electrifying and compelling songs on the album as “Roots Reality Reggae”.

“I made this album for the people and all the songs reflect themes of reality that all people can relate to regardless of age, race and background. Many of the struggles that we face in life are universal and I very much wanted to connect with music lovers internationally”, Joseph Quote reflected. “I want my music to tear down borders between peoples, not reinforce them”, he continued.

He sees his unique voice as a divine gift, but he has also developed other jewels in his musical crown. He plays the guitar, and he is considered a formidable song writer, and over the years he has written for the R & B group Inrto (Atlantic Records), Trevor Sparkes, Glen Washington and Rankin Joe. He is also does vocal and musical arrangements. These combined gifts placed Joseph Quote on the UK charts with his hit single CAN YOU GIVE ME WHAT I WANT, a duet with singer Sheleene Thomas and the single also earned a coveted spot on the STRICTLY THE BEST VOL 13, a VP Records compilation. He has also had the opportunity to tour doing live performances, and his most unforgettable gigs have been on the continent of Africa.

Joseph Quote attributes much of his success now to the fatherly mentoring that he received from Mr. Earl Moodie of Moodie’s Records fame when he had just migrated to the Bronx in the United States and was in need of direction. He credits Mr. Moodie with creating the first music-related job for him at the record store in the Bronx, and for taking him to a recording studio for the first time. Others who have influenced the career of Joseph Quote are Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye.

During the course of his career, Joseph Quote has had to overcome many obstacles along the way but he uses two powerful tools- prayer and crying- to resolve issues and to move forward. He is solidly grounded in the belief that music is his destiny, and he looks forward to the tremendous success of his debut album, GIVE JAH ALL THE PRAISE/ New Creation Records.
