Miramar’s Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne Supports Broward Citizenship Day

MIRAMAR – A Broward Citizenship Day will be sponsored by the New Americans Campaign, Broward College, and the Knight Foundation, with the support of local legal services agencies on Saturday, June 14 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Broward College, South Campus, Gym Building, 7200 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33024.

The objective is to complete 300 citizenship applications at the event.  Persons who have been Legal Permanent Resident for 5 years or longer are qualified to submit applications.

 To register, go to the web page www.citizenshipflorida.org.  Click on the Applicant Registration link and follow the instructions. There is also a link for you to print the list of documents and information required to complete the citizenship application.

 The service is completely free, except for the $680 USCIS fee.  However, if you receive food stamps, Medicaid or SSI, and qualify for the fee waiver, you can have your application processed at no cost. For this you must have the letter of benefits in English from DCF and/or the Social Security Office.

 Documents required: (original and two copies of each document):

1- $680 Money Order payable to USCIS (or fee waiver application)

2- Permanent Resident Card

3- Social Security Card

4- 2 Passport pictures

5- Birth, marriage(s) & divorce(s) certificates

6- If married, also all divorce certificates of your current spouse

7- Copy of passport (picture page, and list of dates of departures & entries into the US, during the last five years)

8- Selective Service Card (males only)

9- If applicant has been arrested, must provide all Arrest (Police) Records; Charging Documents; & Final Disposition (State of Florida and/or any other state where applicant has lived)

 

What other information is needed?

TRAVEL OUTSIDE THE US during the last five years: destinations; plus dates of travel out, and return, of each trip

FULL ADDRESS of each place of residence during the last five years

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: every place of employment (address and dates) during the last five years

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN AND SPOUSE: Name, date of birth, Alien number; country of birth, and current address
