Miami Immigrant Youth Launch National “Right to Dream” Campaign, Call on Obama to Grant Real Relief

At Rallies Across the Country, Thousands of Immigrant Youth and Allies Issue Declaration of DREAMS, Urge Obama to His Deportation Record

MIAMI BEACH – In the three years of the Obama Administration, the immigrant community has experienced record high deportations. Despite promises for reform and a more moderate deportation policy, immigrant families find themselves further in the shadows than ever.

Immigrant youth from across the country have had enough. On Thursday, May 17th, 2012, they will gather at an Obama for America office to launch the “Right to Dream” campaign with rallies across the country.

Undocumented youth and allies from the community will call on President Obama to use his power to stop tearing immigrant families apart and to provide real and lasting relief for DREAM Act eligible youth. Simultaneous actions will take place in multiple cities around the country as part of a national effort organized by the United We Dream Network.

At tomorrow’s rally, members of Students Working for Equal Rights and other local undocumented youth will share stories of denied education and how deportations have ripped apart families.
