MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins Foundation will host its largest annual event featuring current players, alumni, coaches and cheerleaders, FinsWeekend, on June 9-11, 2011. The three-day extravaganza will feature an exciting weekend of golf, fishing and celebrities. All proceeds from FinsWeekend will benefit the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
“The funds that are raised during FinsWeekend are an integral part of advancing the mission of the Miami Dolphins Foundation to support the betterment of South Florida’s youth,” said Tony Sparano, Miami Dolphins Head Coach. “It’s an exciting opportunity for the entire organization to come together with our fans for a great cause, and make a huge impact in the community.”
The festivities will begin on Thursday, June 9, with the Celebrity Draw Party in the Harry Soffer room at Fairmont Turnberry Isle, presented by Sun Life Financial. The party will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and interactive games such as putting, chipping, pitch shot and sand shot for unique prizes. On Friday, June 10, Dolphins players and alumni hit the green at Fairmont Turnberry Isle’s award-winning golf course in Aventura for the FinsWeekend Golf Tournament. Players will tee-off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start followed by a luncheon presented by Doctors Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine to announce the winners. Later that evening, the popular Hook & Tackle Captain’s Party will take place at the Miami Beach Marina, which will feature a silent auction and entertainment.
The following morning, on Saturday, June 11, amateur and professional anglers will meet at the Miami Beach Marina for the Miami Dolphins Foundation Fishing Tournament presented by eDiets.com. Participants will enjoy a day of offshore fishing accompanied by Dolphins players and alumni. In the afternoon, all fishing participants will get together for the “Hooters Weigh-in”. The first place finisher will receive a flight on the team charter to a Dolphins road game.

That evening, attendees will gather for the Scott Financial/HMY Awards Ceremony to find out who walked away with the biggest catch. At the ceremony, a 21 foot Contender with a Mercury Engine will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
