Miami-Dade County launches new website to provide local information on Federal Economic Stimulus Programs

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County is launching a new web page, www.miamidade.gov/recovery, which provides the latest information on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, recently passed by President Obama and the U.S. Congress.

The Recovery Act, also referred to as the federal economic stimulus plan, invests in infrastructure and energy projects, provides tax relief to those in greatest need, and expands or improves educational opportunities and affordable health care programs.

“During these tough economic times, we want to inform our residents about opportunities and programs that economic stimulus dollars are making possible,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez. “As we continue to receive details about the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, we will track and share that information with our taxpayers through this new website.”

At www.miamidade.gov/recovery, users can view current County grant opportunities, status of projects, and get updates on local economic stimulus activities. The new web page also links to grant web pages of current federal, state, local and private funding sources. Anyone can become a subscriber to receive free, weekly grant e-mail notifications. Recovery information on the web page will be updated as it is received on an on-going basis.
