MIAMI-DADE – Haiti has been significantly impacted by an earthquake. The extent of the impact is not yet evident as the international community organizes to send aid. The Miami-Dade Department of Emergency Management (DEM) is closely monitoring the post earthquake situation in Haiti, and as validated information becomes available we will keep you all informed.

An information and communications hub will be set up for the Haitian community at the Edison Little River Neighborhood Center. The hub will share information with our community, as well as coordinate with our Department of Emergency Management to provide up-to-date information about developments on the island. Translators and Creole-speaking social workers will also be on site.

The Edison Center does not have capability to direct phone lines to Haiti but has lines to the U.S. Department of State where people can place calls.
