Miami-Dade Chamber Of Commerce launches Young Professionals Network for Black Professionals

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce will host the official launch party of its newest initiative, the Young Professionals Network (YPN) on Friday, October 12, 2007, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The Raleigh Hotel located at 1775 Collins Avenue on Miami Beach.

There is no cost for YPN members and for non-members $25. The cost of YPN membership is $100 annually.

The Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce created YPN with the mission of generating tangible, actionable solutions to challenges that face the young Black professional in South Florida.

YPN’s mission is clear; to adhere to the needs of South Florida’s young black professionals from inception; to establish a supportive, nurturing and mentoring leadership organization that fosters personal growth by involving them professionally, socially and civically; to provide a work/life balance through social and civic activities that are fun, innovative and memorable. The manifest for YPN comes largely from four (4) focus groups totaling 40 young black professionals from various educational, cultural and professional backgrounds.

According to a recent study published by The Metropolitan Center at Florida International University, South Florida is experiencing a “black brain drain” and losing talented young black professionals in record numbers. The study concluded that the flight of these talented black professionals will have a profound impact on the economic viability of all communities in South Florida.

The results of the YPN focus groups mirrored the FIU study and were presented to the YPN focus group participants, along with an action plan, brand strategy, membership requirements and overall mission at a private September 13th YPN launch event at the lush private club, The Havana Club.

The YPN intends to become a historical
“movement”, super serving black professionals in South Florida between the ages of 25 and 40. The movement has already garnered a huge buzz and was featured in September on NBC 6’s South Florida Today and HOT 105, and is the cover story of the upcoming November issue of Success South Florida magazine.

To join the community of South Florida’s best and brightest young Black professionals for the YPN launch event on Friday October 12th , please RSVP at [email protected] or call (305) 751-8648. The YPN is an initiative of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce.
