Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Chairman congratulates Miami Dolphins on their fantastic season

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Chairman Dennis C. Moss congratulates the Miami Dolphins players, coaches, administrators, and owners for their wonderful 11-6 season, being AFC East division champions, and making it to the playoffs.

Just a year ago, the team was 1-15 and facing all kinds of challenges, but was able to make an amazing turnaround and became the first team in NFL History to reach the playoffs following a one-win season.

“The 2008 season was truly a Cinderella story for our team, our residents, and our community,” said Chairman Moss. “We are truly proud of the Dolphin’s success. As a fan, a Miami-Dade resident, and an elected official, I am very pleased with the work of Bill Parcells, first-year coach Tony Sparano, and the entire Dolphin team. Quarterback Chad Pennington finished tied for second for league MVP, giving Miami its best quarterback since Dan Marino and Joey Porter finished as one of the quarterback sack leaders in the NFL.”

It is hoped that the new ownership builds upon this success during the 2009 season and that we continue to see 74,000 cheering fans in Dolphin Stadium as we did during the playoffs.

“Keeping Bill Parcells and the nucleus of the football team will be key to making this happen,” added Chairman Moss. “Go fins!”
