MDC Entrepreneurial Education Center to Host Ready for the Workforce Open House

[MIAMI] – To address industry demand for high-skilled workers, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center is hosting a “Ready for the Workforce” Open House Wednesday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the goal of featuring short-term, workforce training programs to prepare students for in-demand careers.

The event is free and open to current MDC students and interested members of the public who want to enroll in courses offering training in high demand fields such as computer repair and installation, manufacturing, information technology and design.  MDC industry professionals will be on hand to talk with prospective students about training. In addition to career opportunities and to enroll students on the spot.

“These selected workforce programs are offered in accelerated formats. Most require as few as four to six classes to complete the certificate programs,” said MDC North Campus President Malou C. Harrison. “As for design, we’re offering important foundational courses. Together with entrepreneurship courses, to equip students to start their own graphic design services company.  We are meeting the demand for short-term training. Especially to produce high skilled workers prepared to fill high wage jobs in our community.”

The featured programs begin August 24, 2015.
