Many Islands, One People: The Rhythms That Unite Us A Haitian Flag Day Celebration with Ms. Emeline Michel

FT. LAUDERDALE — Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc. (MDEI)is proud to announce, the “Queen of Haitian Song,” Ms. Emeline Michel, will headline MDEI’s fifth annual
Haitian Flag Day Celebration on Friday, May 18, 2007.

Known for combining traditional rhythms through Haitian Compas, twoubadou and rara, Ms. Michel has performed around the world, with one of her most recent performances being in New York City for former President Bill Clinton’s Foundation.

Haitian Flag Day Celebration, with Emeline Michel will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 5:30 p.m., with a V.I.P Reception / Haitian Artwork Silent Auction at 7:00 p.m., at the Performance Parker Playhouse, 707 NE 8th Street in Fort Lauderdale.

Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc. is also accepting nominations for the SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS presented to an individual, a corporation, and two High School Juniors who have advanced the cause of the Caribbean Community.
