Magnum: There When Dancehall Needs It

Magnum Tonic Wine is reaffirming its commitment to the promotion and development of dancehall music.

KINGSTON,Jamaica – “We’re proud to be associated with the development of the dancehall culture. It’s our music, it’s our culture, and it our dances,” Gary Dixon, Brand Manager of Magnum Tonic Wine asserts.

The beverage company, which dancehall lovers and party goers are equally supportive of, has helped to bring dancehall music and culture further to the fore of Jamaican pop culture, through heavy sponsorship of events like the popular weekly party series Weddy Weddy. Magnum also strongly supports other dancehall events islandwide like the Magnum GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza in St. Elizabeth and the Magnum Follow Di Arrow stage shows held in St. Mary. There is also an abundance of community events that Magnum proudly sponsors.

The company not only believes in helping to provide spaces for people to revel in dancehall, but also takes pride in supporting the people who make the music happen. This is why they are sponsors of veteran sound system Stone Love, and are committed to having a long and productive partnership.

“We embrace the partnership,” Dixon proudly exclaims. “It’s a fascinating friendship, and it’s something that we intend to continue for a, long time”.

Magnum also supports dancehall talent, and piloted the inaugural Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall talent competition. This competition saw a slew of Jamaican men and women chanting dancehall lyrics to a live audience at Weekenz every Saturday night. The eventual king and queen walked away with more than a half a million dollars in cash and prizes. The competition gave them immeasurable exposure, and Magnum went a step further and brought the crowd favourites from the competition on an island wide summer tour.

There is no doubt that the Magnum brand has been firmly rooted in the development of dancehall culture. They are once again set to give dancehall lovers ultimate satisfaction with the latest campaign, which is set to roll out this month. Patrons can also look out for great rewards and entertainment as Magnum continues to grant access to some of the hottest parties and freebies.

Dixon says that “Dancehall music originated here, it is ours. It’s 100% Jamaican, and so is Magnum. As long as Dancehall is around, we’ll be here to support its development.”
