SOUTH FLORIDA – Having recorded gospel, pop and Christmas albums in the past three years, Lisa Simone tries her hand at reggae for her latest project, which is being produced by Paul “Jah Screw” Love.

The project is in the final stages of production and is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2027.

On previous albums, Lisa Simone worked with Damion Orlando, her husband. While he has input in the upcoming album, Jah Screw calls most of the shots.

“We’re well into the production process. We’ve completed several recordings and we’re fine-tuning the songs to make sure every detail is right,” she said. “We believe in taking our time so that when the music reaches the listeners, it represents the best of what we can offer.”

The South Florida-based artist met Jah Screw through a mutual friend, and they eventually agreed to work on an album. Jah Screw has an impressive track record working with roots acts like Barrington Levy, Earl Sixteen and Tony Tuff.

His most successful productions, such as Under mi Sensi, Here I Come and Living Dangerously, have been with Levy. Lisa Simone says her songs with Jah Screw cover diverse aspects.

“We’re working on songs that stay true to reggae while bringing different flavors into the music. There are roots-reggae songs with uplifting messages, songs about love, faith, perseverance, and everyday life,” she disclosed.

Born in St. Thomas parish, eastern Jamaica, Lisa Simone was raised on the roots-reggae/lovers rock of Dennis Brown, as well as gospel artists such as Andre Crouch.

I Trust You, her gospel album, was released in 2025.
