ST. LUCIA – Dionne Warwick, Angie Stone, Anita Baker and Wyclef Jean are all part of an exciting line-up of international artistes for this year’s Saint Lucia Jazz to be held from May 2nd to the 11th.
The line-up which also includes jazz musicians Najee, the Juilliard Quartet, Jacques Schwartz-Bart and Dianne Reeves was announced at the media launch of the event Tuesday evening at Sandals Halcyon.
Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Senator the Honourable Allen Chastanet said Saint Lucia Jazz is going through a transition in order to raise the quality of the event.
“I think we have a really fantastic line-up and one that will receive a lot of appeal across the board. What I would like to say is that come 2010/2011, I am going to be asking the Saint Lucia Tourist Board to look at making the event much bigger, to start broadening the marketing spans of the destination. Because 2010 is when we will be getting the largest increment of new rooms on the island,” the minister said.
The Tourist Board, he said, will be more proactive in the marketing of the event, spending more money to accomplish that goal, despite the challenges in regional airlift.
