MIRAMAR – True Blue Weekend on March 16th, 2013 will feature the 1st Annual True Blue 6v6 Over-40 Soccer Tournament sponsored by LIME. The tournament will be an excellent venue for Jamaican South Florida Alumni Associations to showcase their Over-40 soccer talent.
LIME is the proud sponsor of the inaugural tournament. Participating schools will have the opportunity to win a $400 cash cash prize donation for their alumni association provided by LIME.
The 9th Annual True Blue Weekend will take place March 15th-17th, 2013. The 3-day event is hosted by The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. (STGCOBAFL) and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. (JCOBAFL).
“By supporting True Blue Weekend, we are supporting the development of young people in Jamaica- something that LIME has been proudly doing for decades”, stated Colin Benjamin, Head of Diaspora Sales, LIME.
The True Blue weekend is an expansion from the annual Ziadie Cup soccer match between The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc.
The annual match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 26th year of the death of Dennis Ziadie in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup. Last year’s match drew over 1500 spectators and supporters.
