Laugh Jamaica Now Available Digitally Via YouTube

Pembroke Pines – December 9, 2010
The popular comedian Tony Hendriks, better known as Jamaican Paleface, has signed a digital distribution deal with Random Media’s Realvibez brand to make the well-known comedy Laugh Jamaica available for rent through YouTube’s new Rentals program and to begin earning revenue from his popular YouTube channel, you-tube.com/jamaicanpaleface.

Laugh Jamaica stars well-known Jamaicans Tony “Paleface” Hendriks, Owen “Blacka” Ellis, Joan Andrea Hutchinson and Winton Bell. In March this year YouTube added Realvibez to the beta of a new Rentals program that allows videos, mainly films, to be rented to users in the USA and United Kingdom.

Distributors are able to set the rental price and the duration the videos can be watched, ranging from 1 day to an unlimited duration. Random Media’s Realvibez brand is among the only YouTube Partners actively focusing on bringing Caribbean content to YouTube in ways that earn revenue for content owners at this time.

“We are always grateful when YouTube shows confidence in our abilities” said David Mullings, CEO of Random Media. He added “Thanks to the YouTube Partner status, Caribbean content can be massively distributed in a profitable manner and we are able to help content owners become instantly international.”

Laugh Jamaica is now available at youtube.com/realvibeztv, making it one of the first Caribbean films available for rent on YouTube. “The world is now digital and I realized that I should not only be depending on selling a physical DVD or television distribution” said Tony “Paleface” Hendriks. “Partnering with Realvibez to earn revenue from past projects and working with them on future projects was an easy decision.”

Robert Mullings, COO of Random Media, added “A deal with someone like Tony Hendriks brings professional content and a proven track record of attracting viewership. We look forward to working on future projects with his team.”

Kim-Marie Spence, Jamaica’s Film Commissioner said that this deal was “heralding a new era in which Caribbean filmmakers and producers are able to take charge of their content and bypass television and cinema distribution mechanisms.”

Random Media is currently negotiating deals with other Caribbean content owners to add to the library of films available in the YouTube Rentals program in 2011. The com-pany also distributes digital versions of Caribbean books in Amazon’s Kindle store and Apple’s iBooks store. A deal was signed with LMH Publishing earlier this year and titles such as Rose Hall’s White Witch are now available digitally.
