Kittitian Soca Diva Shakki to release new solo album

ST. KITTS – St.Kitts-Nevis’ undisputed soca queen Shakki is currently in the studios hard at work on her 2nd solo project tentatively titled “Riders Only”. The former d’Vybz front-lady is targeting a Mid-November release date. However fans may not have to wait that long to hear from the diva as the first single from the album will be released during the first half of October.

The album is expected to feature at least 6 tracks with production by a number of local and regional producers. The former Nevis Road March Queen says that she is approaching the production and eventual release of the upcoming album with a great deal of excitement as it would be her first solo release since 2004’s Sterling album. Shakki has been featured on a number of albums since as the front-lady for bands including the Ultra-Sonics, Grand Masters and most recently d’Vybz.


Her hits Dj Play, My Life and Bouncing Train with d’Vybz has been featured on a number of Soca compilations most notably Caribbean Series Compilation by Promo Only Inc, whose clients include Walt Disney, Universal Studios, MTV, and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Shakki’s tracks are featured alongside top artistes such as John Legend & Buju Banton in ‘Can’t Be My Lover’, Beenie Man in ‘Gimme Likkle’, Serani in ‘No Games’, and Daddy Yankee in ‘Que Tengo, Que Hacer’.

“I am looking forward to releasing this album ,” said the Kittitian Soca Diva Shakki. “I have been involved in the music industry now for quite some time and I am putting every bit of the experience I have gained over the years into this album. I intend to use not only local producers but I intend to work with some of the regions top producers some of whom have consistently shown an interest in working with me over the years. I am putting a lot of effort into this album and that is why I am anxious and excited as my fans as well as soca music lovers wil definitely love this recording,” Shakki continued

Shakki’s hit DJ Play with d’Vybz was the number 1 soca song on the UK’s Vibes fm for 6 weeks during 2008.
