Jamaica’s Reggae Radio Legend, Barry “G” Invades Reggae Runnins’

[MIRAMAR] –  As part of the Legends Easter Fete concert in Miramar, Jamaica’s radio legend Barry “G”, will make a special guest appearance on one of the longest running reggae shows on FM radio in South Florida, Reggae Runnins’.

The Boogieman Barry “G” will be live on South Florida’s WHQT_FM HOT 105. As he co-stars with Tanto Irie, host of Reggae Runnins’ which airs Saturday nights from 10pm-1am. This Saturday, April 23 will be legendary. Listeners out of the South Florida area can listen on-line at www.hot105fm.com

“The Godfather” of Jamaican airwaves

Barrington “Barry G” Gordon is known as “The Godfather” of Jamaican airwaves.  Dating back to 1975 started off at Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC). He went from radio producer to host of his own show, ‘Turntable Time’ after 3 years. This success led to a 6 hour Saturday afternoon program called ‘Boogie Down’.

Thirteen years later, Barry G went over to Radio Jamaica (RJR), taking his high ratings with him only to return to JBC 2 years later. After co-founding Power 106, he went on to Hot 102 until 2001. Freelancing in the international syndicated radio arena has kept Barry G busy.

In 2010 Barry “G” received his Order of Distinction for his contribution to broadcasting in Jamaica.

Barry G hopes to thrill his fans in South Florida who remember the good old days when he was on the air.  Tanto Irie has been on HOT 105 FM for 10 years and earning his stripes as a “legend” in South Florida.

Easter Fete

Legends Easter Fete is a first of its kind event scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 24 at the Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Pkwy (1 mile west of 1-75) 2pm-10pm and will feature four events that will thrill the entire family.

For the younger kids, the Kids Romping Zone will have activities for children to experience a little piece of the Caribbean.

For the teenagers, they can enjoy the Teen Swagg Jamz in the Park area which will be hosted by Felicia Monet of 99 Jamz and Slim City and will feature music by DJ Entice of 99 Jamz, DJ Bre, Lady Magic and K Cee L. In addition to the DJ music they can experience the Swagg Idol featuring karaoke style to various Step teams.

Renaissance Sound and the gentle genius, Rory of the legendary Stone Love. Plus,  Sweetness Sounds, HMV and Eccentrix will be the highlight of the bamboo Lawn Day Fete.

Main Stage

On the main stage which will be hosted by the Boogie Man, Barry “G”. Legendary acts will have the crowd rocking. Scheduled to perform will be Third World, Barrington Levy, and Frankie Paul. Plus, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Bryron Lee’s Dragonaires and providing the sounds, Winston “Merritone” Blake.
