Jamaica’s Minister of Sports Congratulates Asafa Powell on IAAF Performance of the Year Award

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hon. Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, Jamaica’s Minister of Sports, on behalf of the Government of Jamaica would like to congratulate Asafa Powell on winning the IAAF Performance of the Year Award.

His 9.74 seconds clocking in Rieti, Italy, which came days after missing out on the glory of the 100 meters World Championship gold medal underlies his resilience and class and his ‘never say die’ attitude.

Asafa has promised gold at the Olympics and barring injury, there is no doubt in our minds that he will deliver on his promise.

Once again on behalf of the Government and the people of Jamaica, congrats!
