Jamaica’s Director of Public Prosecutions to speak in South Florida

FT. LAUDERDALE – The Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Paula Llewellyn, O.D. will be guest speaker at the annual fundraiser of the Florida chapter of the Jamaica Ex-Soldiers Association (JESA).

Under the patronage of the Consul General of Jamaica, the event will be held next Saturday (Dec. 6) at the Hilton Airport Hotel in Davie.

Proceeds from the event will enable the Association to continue its charitable projects in Jamaica which includes assistance to the Curphey Home in Mandeville, home of the Jamaican war veterans, as well as other community assistance programs here in South Florida.

DPP Llewellyn is the first female to be appointed in this position in the nation’s history and is expected to share with her audience on matters relevant to the country’s crime situation including Government’s position on capital punishment.

Formed in 1995, the 30-member association comprises former officers of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), with chapters in the Northeast USA and Canada.
