Jamaican Women Of Florida (JWOF) Participates In Take Your Child To Work Day – Broward 2015

SOUTH FLORIDA – Jamaican Women of Florida under the leadership of their Mentorship Committee Chair, Georgia Robinson, Esq. will be participating in the annual Take Your Child To Work Day in Broward County on April 10, 2015.

What started as a National Take Your Daughter to Work Day 22 years ago has evolved into taking your child to work.  The national day this year will be April 23rd, however Broward County participates on April 10th due to the school calendar. The program asks volunteers to take a child to work on the specified day to expose the children to professionals in their environment and to show what the value of an education can be in a real-life setting.

This year several JWOF volunteers have signed up to participate in the TYCTW Day to expose young people whose parents may not be professionals, or who may want to see a different professional at work.

JWOF seeks young people currently enrolled in high school ages 14 -18 to contact the organization to participate in the program and be paired with a mentor for the day. Current mentors are working in the fields such as education, art, law, medicine, business, public and relations.  Deadline for enrollment in this year’s program is April 6, 2015. Jamaican Women of Florida celebrates their second anniversary on May 23, 2015 with a Women’s Empowerment Conference and the award of the second “Powerful Women…Next Generation” scholarship at Jungle Island, Miami and celebrates the TYCTW day as part of practicing what they preach, “Mentoring the next generation”.
