SOUTH FLORIDA – Bashment Granny 3 is not only the hottest name in Jamaican entertainment today but undoubtedly the biggest Jamaican comedy play ever either roots or traditional. Sold out in all it’s venues in Jamaica and abroad, setting attendance records at every location, flopping any show, music or theatre that plays at the same time.
Since the release of the Bashment Granny video, which itself has become the # 1 selling Jamaican video at home and abroad, this has fueled the excitement for Bashment Granny 3 and its star Keith ‘Shebada’ Ramsay.
In Florida everyone wants to see Shebada and in conversation recently, one woman (maybe in her forties) remarked that she had to see Shebada as she needed him to teach her ‘the wine’ (dance) so she can keep her man at home. He leads an all-star cast in this show that includes Garfield ‘Bad Boy Trevor’ Reid, Terry Salmon, Monique Ellis, Luke Ellington, Crystal Fletcher and Junior ’Half A Dog’ Williams. Bashment Granny was written by the veteran Paul O Beale and directed by the remarkable B Lloyd Allen.
This is easily one of the best instalments in the trilogy of Bashment Granny plays, with Ramsay at the height of his comedic powers. The play opens with a stirring ni-nite scene for the character, dearly departed ‘Bashy’. One of the central characters, Pretty P, played by Terry Salmon, first encounters Half-a-Dog, (played by Junior Williams) who is sniffing around for clues on Bad Boy Trevor and the US$300,000 which was swindled years ago. Half a Dog, played with coiled menace by Williams, alternately threatens and cajoles Pretty P for information before she is finally able to give him the slip.
