Jamaican Ex-Police association of South Florida offering scholarship award

MIAMI – The Jamaica Ex-Police association of South Florida is now accepting applications for its annual USA and Jamaican scholarships.

The scholarships which are one-time cash awards are intended to assist students in both communities in high school or college.

In order to qualify for the Jamaican scholarship, based on need, applicants must meet the following criteria – attend a Jamaican high school, maintain a satisfactory academic performance, demonstrate proper conduct, punctuality and attendance.
Scholarship awards must be used for purchase of school supplies and uniforms, financial need and scholastic aptitude of the applicants.
The selection process will be carried out by the Community Relations Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The scholarship will be awarded on Friday (May 23) at the annual clean-up campaign of the association to be staged this year at the Bog Walk Police Station.

The scholarship for the South Florida community will be awarded to an applicant currently residing in the tri-county area and attending a tertiary institution. Students of Jamaican parentage are strongly encouraged to apply.

The South Florida scholarship will be awarded at the association’s annual fundraising banquet to be held on Saturday (April 19) at the Hilton Hotel in Dania Beach.

The Jamaica Ex Police Association, South Florida chapter consists of almost 100 members formerly of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and now residing in Florida. Other chapters are operating in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
