Jamaica Olympic House blows the competition away

LONDON – Jamaica House, the official JOA endorsed Olympic House, situated at The O2, is proud to confirm that the venue is now London’s most popular Hospitality House at which to watch the 2012 games.

Since pre-registration was launched through its website, subscription for the ten opening dates was filled with over 75,000 requests for tickets, within a matter of days.

The venue, which is situated inside ‘The Bubble’, will embody a celebration of all things Jamaican, which is thought to be the initial attraction to ticket holders. Once inside, visitors will be taken on an authentic, interactive journey through the island’s proud 50 year history, which will include elements of Jamaica’s rich culture of food and drink, music, sporting legacy and the allure of its people. The venue will also act as a hub to watch the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt and Jamaica’s other world-class athletes lead Jamaica to hopeful medal success at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeil, said today “Jamaica House at O2 is a joint effort on the parts of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce and the Office of The Prime Minister/Ministry of Sports. It is an excellent example of the synergies that can be achieved when government agencies work hand in hand to promote Jamaica. Jamaica’s Olympic team has already attracted great public interest in the buildup to the games and the Jamaica Tourist Board, Jampro and the Ministry of Sports have combined efforts to capitalize on this interest to promote travel to and investment in Jamaica. Even before the games begin, we are the hottest ticket in town.

“Jamaica House at O2 is a brilliant joint effort on our part and I am pleased at reports that it is already oversubscribed. I can already sense that we can expect success in the Olympic stadium and at Jamaica House at O2.”

John Lynch, Director of Tourism for the Jamaica Tourist Board, who is present in London for the launch of Jamaica House, commented: “The success of Jamaica House is both overwhelming and phenomenal, before the doors have even opened to the public. Every day from 3rd -12th we are full to capacity, with demand growing daily. Not only this, but all Jamaican, UK national and international print and broadcast media have booked their places inside Jamaica House to capture the electric atmosphere and history no doubt being made. Feedback from most people is that this is all down to a real buzz on the streets of London that if you don’t have a ticket for the Olympic Stadium, then the next best place to be is Jamaica House.”
