Jamaica National Launches “Membership Matters” Campaign

KINGSTON, Jamaica – “Membership Matters” is the theme of the new Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) marketing and promotion campaign, as the Society seeks to assure its existing and new members that their, “JNBS Membership adds real value” to their lives.

The campaign, driven by the Society’s Member Ombudsman, Michele Pollard Gonzalez, focuses on the importance and value of membership, whether one is a saver or the recipient of a mortgage loan; as well, it highlights the ‘no cost’ benefits that accrue to members of the country’s oldest building society, now celebrating its 135th year.

“We saw the need to address the fact that there are bona fide members of the Society who save with us and have loans from us, and yet, do not fully understand that, on this basis, they are members of a mutual society, which gives them access to a wide range of benefits,” JN General Manager, Earl Jarrett, stated.

He explained that the new campaign seeks to address that anomaly, as all new members will receive a members’ kit with a copy of the JN Mutuality Statement; and the no-cost services they can receive, including free–ATM transactions at any multi-link location, JN Money Transfer Card, bill payment at JNBS locations, internet banking at LIVE by JN and content insurance, among others.

“While many of our existing members are aware of these benefits,” Mr. Jarrett pointed out, “some are not as conversant with all the details as we would like them to be, hence the campaign.”

For example, the General Manager stated that the new JN passbook will carry a JN member logo, to bring the matter of membership up front and centre.

“The multi-media campaign which got underway on August 23 has been welcomed by employees of the Society,” JN Group Marketing, Promotion and Sales Executive, Leon Mitchell, advises. “Our Tellers and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are confident that the information kit will be a timely reminder to new members about the matters discussed in their initial meeting.”

He noted that a new booklet highlighting the participating merchants in the Society’s “Show Your Card & Save” discount programme for members will be included in the kit, so that new members, particularly persons who are not online, can also access these benefits.

“In addition, there will be a welcome letter and tips about financial planning,” Mr. Mitchell pointed out.

Mrs. Pollard Gonzalez

Mrs. Pollard Gonzalez, who has responsibility for the Society’s Customer Care and Quality Assurance, said that, “This campaign drew on the resources and expertise of several departments and subsidiaries, and we welcome this opportunity to demonstrate in a tangible way how valuable our members are, and to make their association with Jamaica National truly meaningful.”
