Jamaica Diaspora Day Message
By: Marlon Hill
MIAMI – Dear Fellow Jamaicans and Friends of Jamaica:
As we celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month and Jamaica Diaspora Day on June 16th, delegates from the Jamaican Diaspora will convene in Jamaica for the third Biennial Conference to develop an action for a borderless partnership for national develop. We are at a pivotal juncture in our history where we look at our co-existence without any limitations. This is a choice for us. We must recognize that our collective energy will not only elevate our relevance to the development of our local communities overseas, but will also bode well for uplifting Jamaica to world class status.
We are a nation of people with unbounded talent and innovation. We must, however, recognize that we have failed to protect our nation from the scourge of criminal element in the corners of our society. It is incumbent upon us to recommit ourselves to zero tolerance of criminal behavior at any level of our society.
This is a choice for us and we can change this direction of our society. For this year’s Jamaican Diaspora Day, this is my patriotic prayer. I stand with you today as a proud global citizen of Jamaican descent and wish that you would also pursue your own purpose in making Jamaica a nation of borderless prosperity.
One love,
Marlin A. Hill, Esq.
