Jamaica Boasts a World of Gourmet Delicacies During the 13th Annual ‘Jamaica Epicurean Escape’

KINGSTON, Jamaica – This November, Jamaica will host the 13th annual Jamaica Epicurean Escape (JEE), inviting visitors to immerse in a world of gourmet delicacies, history and exciting entertainment.

This three-day international food festival will showcase mouthwatering cuisine, celebrity chefs, fine wines, and first class entertainment to celebrate Jamaica’s dynamic culinary culture in its 50th year of Independence. Held at the Richmond Estate in Priory, St Ann near Ocho Rios, the event kicks off with a grand opening ceremony and charity dinner on Thursday, November 22 – Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

Along with a wide array of mouth-watering dishes by top-ranked chefs, this gastronomic extravaganza will feature top-shelf wines, sidewalk cafes, mixology and cooking demonstrations, competitions, giveaways, and late night parties. Additionally, the main attraction will be a grand tasting tent. The JEE event is one of the celebratory events for Jamaica’s 50thAnniversary of Independence.

“The Jamaica Epicurean Escape celebrates an important aspect of our cultural heritage and establishes the island as a premier culinary destination,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “The success of the event will not only serve to strengthen Jamaica’s tourism offering, but will also give celebrated local and international chefs a chance to showcase traditional Jamaican dishes as well as fusion and international cuisine.”

Also in November, the 7th annual Restaurant Week, Jamaica will offer visitors and locals alike an opportunity to experience “adventures in tastes for less.” The seven-day culinary celebration, from November 13 – 20, will serve up Jamaica’s tastiest food fare at discounted prices of up to 50% off at participating restaurants in Kingston, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

Additionally, the 2012 CB Pan Chicken Championship returns on Sunday, November 18. Following a series of exciting regional competitions and events, the first and second place winners from each parish will compete in a cook off for the Championship title.

The finals will take place on Ocean Boulevard in the historic Downtown Kingston. Courtesy of Churches Co-operative Credit Union (CCCU), the winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of over half a million Jamaican dollars for being awarded Jamaica’s most creative jerk chicken chef.
