Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) reaffirms its commitment to Jamaica Broilers Group Limited

KINGSTON, Jamaica – On July 27, 2009, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) held a signing ceremony for a US$7 million loan agreement with Jamaica Broilers Group Limited, whose main activities are poultry operations, feedstock and farm supplies, and ethanol processing.

The operation will finance working capital to support and strengthen the company’s operations. This operation is part of an effort by the IIC to help companies weather the current financial turmoil. In Jamaica, the IIC’s portfolio includes a variety of businesses, ranging from small and large companies to local financial institutions.

The signing ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in Kingston. Signing for Jamaica Broilers Group Limited was Mr. Christopher Levy, President and CEO. Mr. Steven Reed, Deputy General Manager, signed for the IIC. Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Richard Bernal, IIC Executive Director for Jamaica; Mr. Robert Levy, Chairman, and Mr. Ian Parsard, Vice President of Finance and Energy Operations at Jamaica Broilers Group Limited.

The IIC is a multilateral financial institution that is a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group. It provides financing (in the form of equity investments, loans, guarantees, and other instruments) and advisory services to private enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean.
