Hyatt Regency Trinidad To Court Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events Market

Port of Spain, Trinidad –  The Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events Market (IMEX) is a premier U.S. trade show and the Hyatt Regency Trinidad along with a robust country delegation being led by the Trinidad & Tobago Convention Bureau will be in attendance.

From October 13-15, 2015, the benefits of business-related travel to Trinidad and Tobago will be highlighted to corporate meeting planners, incentive houses and travel-selling professionals at the fifth annual Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events America Trade show at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas. The country’s attendance is geared towards raising awareness of the destination in the lucrative Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Exhibitions market (MICE) and generating strong booking leads.  Key executives from the Trinidad & Tobago Convention Bureau, Hyatt Regency Trinidad and the Shaw Park Complex in Tobago comprise the official delegation.

Incentive Travel, Meetings and EventsIMEX America is a three-day event and the largest hosted buyer program in North America. Tradeshow activities include group presentations, preset appointments between meeting planners and suppliers and a variety of smaller events and educational workshops that allow for intelligence gathering and networking.  Due to the show’s razor sharp focus on business, it routinely attracts top meetings and incentive buyers from across the US and around the world.

In 2014, IMEX America attracted 2,909 hosted buyers from 54 countries. 76 per cent of those buyers were from North America, Trinidad and Tobago’s main source market for meetings and conferences. The show organizers are expecting an even bigger turn out this year.

“As the leading business hotel in Trinidad, it is extremely important for Hyatt Regency Trinidad to participate in IMEX because it gives us direct access to major industry players such as members of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest global trade association for the meeting industry,” said Charlaine Montano, the hotel’s director of sales. “This will be our third year participating and it has been rewarding for us”.

So far, the delegation has confirmed 24 individual appointments with companies from the United States, Brazil, Argentina, India and Belgium.  An additional 32 buyers are booked to attend four planned group presentations.  The team expects to secure even more meetings on the ground.
