Hyatt opens its “Briefcase in the Business” Capital of the Caribbean

Hyatt Regency Trinidad is the first full-service hotel to open in Port of Spain since 1962

PORT OF SPAIN – In December 2007, Hyatt Regency will open its newest landmark hotel in the fastest growing city in the Caribbean – Port of Spain, Trinidad. Positioned in the heart of Trinidad and Tobago’s capital city and financial epicenter, the 428-room Hyatt Regency Trinidad will be a part of the dynamic and modern Port of Spain International Waterfront Center.

Guests will enjoy the convenience of the region’s premiere business hotel, designed to provide the latest in meeting facilities, technology and luxury – all set against the majestic backdrop of an island landscape.

“Trinidad, especially Port of Spain’s newly developing waterfront business center is the ultimate destination for Hyatt,” said General Manager Russell George. “Hyatt Regency will have a direct impact on local and international business tourism and provide an unprecedented level of hospitality and services to our valued meetings, event and convention clientele.”

As the first full-service hotel to open since 1962, the Hyatt Regency Trinidad will set a precedent for delivering a superior guest experience with the largest number of business and entertainment options in the region. It provides function for discriminating meetings and convention planners with 43,000 square-feet of flexible meeting space; including 10,000 square-feet of multi-purpose space equipped with translation facilities and the 16,000 square-foot Regency Ballroom. Smaller groups will be comfortable meeting in one of the seven high-tech Meeting Rooms in the Conference Center.

Upon arrival at Piarco International Airport, Hyatt guests will have the option of pre-arranging airport transfers. For those who have their own transportation, guests and visitors can conveniently self-park in the 1,200 space car-port. Guests will enter the hotel through the porte-cochere into a welcoming lobby incorporating dramatic water features and local blue stone. T&T residents and Hyatt guests will be treated to several fine dining and lounge facilities in the hotel. A fitness center, ocean view infinity pool, 9,000 square-foot spa and full service business center make the Hyatt Regency Trinidad a serene escape as well as a premiere business hotel.

Guest rooms will have a modern flare, featuring bamboo floors, glass enclosed showers, LG flat screen 32” televisions, I-home decks and will be both wireless and wired for Internet. There are two Penthouse Suites, eight Executive suites and 32 balconies overlooking the Gulf of Paria.

“Whatever the needs of the leisure or business traveler, we will make their stay with us a premiere experience,” noted Charlaine Montano, director of sales. “We are equipped to handle all sizes of events, conventions and meetings. Our access to the latest technology, luxury room elements and superior service will make the Hyatt a top destination for executives doing business in the Caribbean. Hyatt has raised the bar on Trinidad’s standard of luxury. We look forward to welcoming locals alongside business and leisure travelers with the goal to exceed their expectations.”
