Home Depot Steps Up in Support of Miami’s Mayor Haiti Initiative

Miami — Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado joined by Commissioner Richard P. Dunn II, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson and Home Depot executives will hold a press conference on July 21, 2010 at 10:00a.m. to announce Home Depot’s generous contribution towards the building of an Emergency Operations / Community Center for the people of Port- au- Prince. The press conference will take place at the Home Depot located at 3030 SW 8 St. in Miami.

This project, which will be financed through private donations, is a joint effort in solidarity with Miami’s Sister City of Port-au-Prince.

The Emergency Operations / Community Center building will be a 4,ooo sq. ft. structure designed to withstand a category 5 hurricane as well as a severe earthquake. The building will serve as a central command and control facility used for emergency or disaster management functions in emergency situations ensuring continuity of operation for the government of Port au Prince. When not being used as an emergency operations center, the building will be utilized as a community center.

The following have partnered with The City of Miami: Miami Dade County, Gutierrez & Associates, MCM, AdvTech Construction, Home Depot, Ximeno Plumbing, IBEW Local 349, Unite Here Local 355, Continental Electric, Life Giving Force, Fuellgraf Electric Company and The R.E.L.I.E.F. Foundation.
