Haitian Compas Festival (May 16) picks up speed

MIAMI – “The 11th Annual Haitian Compas Festival continues to epitomize its reputation of Prestige and Distinction”

Ten years ago Noel & Cecibon Productions, pioneered by Jean Michel Cerenord and Rodney Noel, made history. In 1998, Miami was far from the leader in hosting Haitian community geared events that could bring people together.

Envisioning something larger than anyone had ever attempted, Noel & Cecibon Productions created an annual event that has grown into a vacation reference for some and a must-attend gathering for others. Expressing elation, Rodney Noel said, “We are so proud that the Compas Festival has reached such triumph, a decade ago we never imagined that stacks of people would plan their vacations around our event but we are definitely motivated by just that.”

Catering to their patrons, the Haitian Compas Festival is foremost known for its stellar line-up and its novel firsts and this year they are continuing the tradition with the addition of two stages, musical diversity with added genres and an extensive assembly of celebrations for days prior and after the festival itself.

Groups like Kreyol La, Djakout Mizik, Zenglen, Nu Look, Mizik Mizik, Gabel, Back-up, Azor, CaRiMi, T-Vice, Harmonik and Zin will be present to bestow the best Compas and Racine music available and performers like Hip Hop artist Haitian Fresh, Kreyol Rap sensations RockFam and the group Brothers Posse will bring a taste of youthfulness to the duo-stage, while a well deserved honor will be given to special guests Septentrional for their infinite contributions to Haitian music.

Many have wondered what more the Haitian Compas Festival can do to commemorate Haitian Flag Day in Miami and thousands congregate from all walks of life, as well as from cities around the world to get a personal glimpse at this yearly musical phenomenon. Be amongst them as the 11th Annual Haitian Compas Festival breaks barriers again in 2009 as the number one Haitian gathering in the United States.
